I’ve been a book lover since the moment I learned to read. When I was 11, I accidentally kickstarted a lifelong obsession with Stephen King after pulling Salem’s Lot off the shelf while my parents weren’t paying attention. (Thanks, Mom and Dad. No regrets.) One time, right out of college, I managed to meet him, but I stood there, totally starstruck with my mouth open, until he said, “WHAT?!” So far, he has not written about me.
I was introduced to audiobooks at 12, when my father lost his eyesight to diabetes and started getting “Books on Tape” from the Library for the Blind. I was fascinated by the storytelling, which eventually led me to narration.
I enjoy narrating across many genres – especially romance, literary fiction, thrillers, and YA. I have a versatile but feminine voice that lends itself well to anything from teen girls to women in their 30s and 40s, but can also do more mature-sounding characters and boys/men. I grew up in upstate NY, which is not the New York accent you might expect, but I can do a decent one from the city, and having lived in Texas and now Tennessee, I can also do a Southern accent.
When I’m off the clock and reading for pleasure, I gravitate toward thrillers, suspense, historical fiction, historical non-fiction, and (shocker) anything by Stephen King. My dream is to some day narrate one of his books. (Hey, Steve… if you’re out there… call me. I’ve been prepping since middle school.)
I’ve gotten to do some cool stuff in my life — as a radio personality, news reporter, music business trade journalist, self-taught web designer, and even briefly in shoe sales (we won’t talk about the stinky feet that made that a short-lived career). But the full circle that has brought me to audiobooks is fulfilling in a way I never expected but am so grateful for.
I work in my home studio in Nashville, TN. When I’m not working, I’m snuggling with two of the cutest pit bulls you’ve ever seen (ask me for pics – I have a million of ’em), raising money for good causes (see my St. Jude link below), or watching true crime, dating reality, and other mind-rotting trash on TV.
