I’ve been a book lover since learning to read. When I was 11, I accidentally kickstarted a lifelong obsession with Stephen King after pulling Salem’s Lot off the shelf while my parents weren’t paying attention. I met him once, right out of college, in my upstate NY hometown, but I stood there, totally starstruck with my mouth open, until he said, “WHAT?!” So far, he has not written about me.
I was introduced to audiobooks at 12, when my father lost his eyesight to diabetes and started getting “Books on Tape” from the Library for the Blind. Between then and the full circle that brought me to narration, I’ve lived a lot of life.
My journalism degree and background as a news reporter, music industry journalist, and award-winning radio personality set the foundation, but moving 28 times across 8 states and 18 cities kept things interesting.
I’ve taught myself Web design (HTML), tried candle making, worked in shoe retail, bowling alleys, and video stores, and accidentally became a plumbing goddess during one of my many homeowner DIY projects. I’ve sung in show choirs, gospel choirs, and musical theater, and I love me some karaoke. I’ve started and quit smoking, survived an eating disorder, married and divorced the kind of man you see on Dateline, and helped raise millions for kids fighting cancer at St Jude Children’s Research Hospital. I love snuggling with my two bossy pit bulls while watching true crime or dating reality trash TV.
I work from my home studio in Nashville, TN, where I’m obsessed with coffee and complaining that you can’t get real pizza here. I am never moving again.
